RSO will pen the score to the Jon Scieszka children’s book The Frog Prince Cont., a commission by Chicago’s Emerald City Theatre, which will open in the company’s 2012-2013 season.
Written by Jon Scieszka, best know for writing the popular children’s books The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, illustrated by Steve Johnson and was originally published by Scholastic in 1991 and is a continuation of the classic children’s fairytale, in which the prince embarks on a new journey after his happy ever after.
Ernie Nolan (Artistic Director of Emerald City Theatre) will write book for and direct the musical. Other artistic staffing has yet to be announced.
