ADAM GUETTEL INTRO’S RSO WORK AT NEO8

York Theatre Company will present NEO 8, a benefit concert celebrating new, emerging and outstanding musical theatre writers, May 21 at The York Theatre at Saint Peter’s.  The evening will feature 3 RSO tunes, and RSO will be introduced that evening by Adam Guettel.

The eighth annual concert — directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell), with music direction by Matt Castle (York’s Enter Laughing, The Musical), David Gardos and Michael Borth — will also include songs by Andrew Gerle, Jenny Giering, Joe Kinosian and Kellen Blair, and Marisa Michelson.

Representing RSO that night will be “London” from Darling, performed by Matt Doyle (Spring Awakening, Bye Bye Birdie); “Leave, Luanne” from 35mm, performed by Ben Crawford (35mm original cast, Shrek), Devin Lewis and HayleyAnna Norris; and “Mama, Let Me In” performed by a choir of students from Pace University’s Musical Theatre Program.

Other performers scheduled to appear include Whitney Bashor (The Fantasticks), Theresa McCarthy (Queen of the Mist), Betsy Wolfe (Ragtime).

Program mentors making special appearances include Adam Guettel (Light in the Piazza), Tom Jones (The Fantasticks), Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and Maury Yeston (Grand Hotel).
